ActBlue Contribution Integration

Thank you for your interest in turning the ActBlue Contribution Integration feature on for your online contribution module.

What is the ActBlue Contribution Integration?

In the past, ActBlue and your NGP database didn’t directly communicate with each other. You would export the contributions from ActBlue and then import the data into NGP manually to get a full picture of your online contributions. This meant you would have to wait days to compare who contributed after an email was sent or a link was posted to social media. With the ActBlue Contribution Integration, NGP will automatically pull in the contributions from ActBlue so you can see more details in NGP on how successful your fundraising is in real time as well as search and segment based on ActBlue data.

Please note: this feature will potentially affect every department in your organization that uses NGP, including Finance, Digital, and Compliance. Please make sure all affected departments are aware and understand what this integration does and how it works.

How does it work?

  • Ask ActBlue for your Entity ID.
  • Fill out the form below and submit it.
  • We’ll then set up our tool to integrate with ActBlue and then reach out to confirm they set up the necessary pieces on their end.
  • Once we get a confirmed response from ActBlue we’ll reach out and let you know the integration is complete!

Caveats:

  • The ActBlue Contribution Integration does not replace importing your ActBlue contributions.
    • For compliance purposes, it’s still required that you import the contributions to track the correct contribution dates as well as any refunds that the ActBlue Integration can’t track.
  • The ActBlue contributions added to NGP from the integration will have the status of “ActBlue Pending.” This status will not change until the contributions are imported VIA THE ACTBLUE BULK UPLOAD TEMPLATE. On Import our system will merge ActBlue pending contributions with the imported contributions to eliminate duplicates.
    • Contributions marked as “ActBlue Pending” will not appear on compliance reports.
    • If a contribution is under the “ActBlue Pending” status for over 105 days, the contribution will be deleted. 
    • If you are using a hybrid system, this means you’ll need to do an ActBlue import into NGP7 for compliance purposes and into NGP8 in order to save in the contributions.
  • This integration only works on committees and designations that have a disclosure report enabled.
  • This Integration will process in close to real time. During periods of high volume (i.e., end of quarter) the Integration may take up to 15 minutes to add in contributions
  • All contribution summaries and calculations will include contributions with the status “ActBlue Pending.”
    • Cycle Limits will not include ActBlue Pending transactions.
